*** simplified 8 kB (!!!) ".HDM"-Browser for local disk operation *** Installation ============ 1.) download all files from the website 2.) copy the delivered files into the given directories on a "Psion 3a/c/mx" computer or a Psion-emulator with about 200 kB of free RAM. 3.) Use the "install application" option in your Psion's system-menu to install the program "browse2.opa" 4.) open one of the ".hdm" files from within(!!!) the program via the dialog-box to view the locally stored websites. (direct start of a ".hdm" file from below the program ICON does not work by now) limitations of the program: =========================== external internet access through a modem is not supported in the actual program version. note: ===== - the Psion ".HDM" file format is - by now - not compatible with the WINNIX-".HDM" file format - the ".jav" file actually only defines a set of images to display ("DI:" command) - "width=" and "height=" parameters may be given for IMG and APPLET objects in the HDM file but are ignored by the browser in the actual version - only .PIC images can be viewed with this browser if you want to convert your ".HTM(L)" website to the simplified "HDM" format you have to 1.) convert JAVA-applets,frames and tables to ".pic" images 2.) use .gif/.jpg -> .pcx -> .pic conversion for your images (".pcx" -> ".pic" image conversion tools like "wspcx.exe" for DOS are available on special third-party Psion CD-ROMs or through the internet -> search-engines like "http://www.yahoo.co.uk" ) known bugs: =========== - .HDM files may only be 256 Bytes large at maximum - small images (multi-layer versions) appear duplicated in "image-zoom" mode - "clearscreen" doesn't affect the whole screen (window-problem) (updated OCTOBER-12-1999)
