2D/3D plane-wing model (with DDE transfer) , Rubik's Cube and bitmap viewer
program , wireframe model and included images
(c) U. Penski 2003 - July-04-2008
what is new in Version 1.26 ?
- demo of interactive Rubik's cube display
- direct slice selection with mouse
- demo of interactive Rubik's cube display
- graphical highlighting of currently selected slice
note: in the demo version only 2 coordinate axis can be used for sliding
- plane model:
- displayed texts are integrated in the "viewer.dat" file ( in the newly created "[text]" section )
Besides that the '.dat' file format defines a "[wing]" and a "[structure]" section
and allows "varname=value" entries for [wing] .
Don't change these section names or the order of variable entries within a section !
- angle-value subwindow :
- "mouseover" reaction of its "close" button
- the window can be moved with mouse horizontally and vertically
- virtuality support for prismatic 3D screen surfaces
Profile usually shaped as displayed with rounded edges
and designed for a 1 pixel width of the image-stripes (labelled 'a' and 'b') that are used to display the
2 partial images A and B of a 3D object.
- red/green glasses (started via the 'Options' menu)
- electronically alternating 3D glasses (see 'help'-menu) with
- 3D image display (2 sample 3D images have been linked into the file 'viewer.exe' ;
the 4 corresponding partial BMP images (labelled 'art1' to 'art4') can be changed e.g. via
the tool "workshop.exe" ( available from Borland / www.Inprise.com )
- parallel port signal generation (start parameter 'p' ; see program's help menu)
- external angle viewer 'ddecli.exe' [ connected via Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) ]
with local popup menu (activated by right mousebutton)
- dialog for setting the colors of the 2 objects (selected via button)
- URL copy option (--> 'help' menu)
- doesn't request a Windows timer
current wing-model limitations
- the front wing doesn't have the ideal profile for a maximum lift-force
- only 1 wing-segment is displayed ; a complete wing would consist of several combined segments
with different width and length properties depending on the specific segment position within
the whole wing
history
- the displayed wing concept has been inspired by the Concorde's (BritishAirways / Air France)
steering problems at low speed when thrust is reduced e.g. due to engine failure
(see e.g. http://uuhome.de/penski/news.htm )
program limitations
- the 2 integrated sample 3D images have not been photographed with a perfect eye-distance
between the 2 camera positions and/or equal orientation of the camera.
Colour depth and image size have been reduced to keep the package file-size low.
The images should be replaced by the user to get a *real* 3D visual impression.
known bugs
- the displayed color in the dialog box when another "object" button is pressed
- slightly wrong position of rotation axis when sliding the cube
(text and program have been updated on July-04-2008)
